- A Florida driver got cited by the police on accusations that they impersonated law enforcement.
- Sheriffs said the driver's Chevy Silverado was equipped with red and blue lights.
Sheriffs from Florida issued a citation to a driver for styling a Chevy Silverado like a law enforcement vehicle.
The DeSoto County Sheriff's Office said in a Tuesday Facebook post that it pulled over and issued a citation to a driver with a white Chevy Silverado with green decals on October 29. The vehicle had the text "Booty Patrol" emblazoned on the sides of its trunk. The post did not specify who was the driver of the vehicle.
The sheriff's office said in an earlier Facebook post on Monday that the truck was "equipped with red and blue lights" and had been "impersonating law enforcement." The post said such vehicles have also been spotted in "several other counties across Florida as well."
US Border Patrol vehicles do resemble the knockoff "Booty Patrol" truck. For one, US Border Patrol vehicles are also white in color with green decals. The main difference, of course, would be that they have "Border Patrol" clearly labeled on the vehicle's sides.
The sheriff's office said on Facebook that the driver had been cited for violating Chapter 316, Section 2397 of the Florida Statutes. According to Florida law, violating the section would be considered a "noncriminal traffic infraction" and is "punishable as a nonmoving violation."
Representatives for the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider sent outside regular business hours.
