An investigator from the Fulton County District Attorney's Office accidentally shot herself while at the county courthouse, ABC News reported.

The woman shot herself in the leg on Friday, according to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.

"The shooting was an accidental discharge by a Fulton County District Attorney's Office investigator who wounded herself. She was not critically wounded," the sheriff's office wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"A Fulton County Sheriff's Office deputy responded and administered aid until EMS arrived," a press release from the sheriff's office also said, ABC News reported. "There was never an active threat at the courthouse."

"Unintentional" gun injuries account for 37% of nonfatal firearm injuries, but they're responsible for less than 2% of all gun deaths, The Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence says.

It adds that "Americans are four times more likely to die from an unintentional gun injury than people living in other high-income countries."

The Fulton County courthouse was the site of Donald Trump and his co-defendants' arraignments after he was charged for his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

The Fulton County courthouse also oversaw the trial of Atlanta rapper Young Thug and his associates, who were accused of forming a "criminal street gang" called Young Slime Life, or YSF.
