Two London police officers were suspended from duty and charged with misconduct in a public office after authorities say they took photos of dead bodies at a murder scene last year.

The charges were authorized by the Crown Prosecution Service following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Authorities said the officers Deniz Jaffer and Jamie Lewis took the photos at a park in Wembley where two women, Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman, were found stabbed to death on June 5. An 18-year-old has been charged with two counts of murder in the case.

According to The Guardian, the officers are also accused of sharing the photos on the messaging app WhatsApp. They are scheduled to appear for their first court hearing on May 27.
