The jobs that make each generation happiest
  • Gen Zers are particularly happy being corporate recruiters.
  • A new Glassdoor report focused on Gen Z includes the jobs with the highest ratings from each generation.

Gen Zers enjoy being corporate recruiters.

A new Glassdoor report about Gen Z includes the jobs that that generation and other generations are most satisfied with. That was based on US average ratings where ratings were on a five-point scale, with 1 being very dissatisfied.

For Gen Z, the job with the highest average rating was corporate recruiter. That job for that generation had an average rating of 4.79. Two different leadership positions had the highest average ratings for Gen X and boomers — Chief Executive Officer and president respectively.

Per the report, "Gen Z workers are most satisfied in roles that provide them with the opportunity to shape company culture and have social impact."

Company culture has been important during the Great Resignation, as some people quit because of toxic workplace culture. And in general, Gen Z in particular have been taking part in the Great Resignation as they move on for different jobs.

When looking at non-Gen Z reviews together, corporate recruiter is also the most satisfying job but with a lower rating than Gen Z's 4.79. Non-Gen Z had a score of 4.59 for this job.

"Overall, Gen Zers are most satisfied working in largely creative, non-technical roles, with only two out of the ten highest rated jobs for Gen Z employees in tech, compared to five for Non Gen Z workers," Richard Johnson, associate economist at Glassdoor and author of the report, wrote.

Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and president made up the top three jobs where Gen X are happiest based on reviews from the career site. For boomers, three different manager positions were part of the 10 jobs with the highest ratings, but president and CEO ranked at the top for this generation.

Johnson wrote that Gen X and boomers are "finding satisfaction in roles that require more years of experience, have more responsibility and wider impact across the business, like president and executive director."

Realtors were the top-rated position by millennials, with an average rating of 4.58. Additionally, this job had the third-highest average rating by boomers at 4.74.
