Modi highlighted the close friendship between the two leaders and the countries. He said, "My friend, a friend of India, a great American President Mr Donald Trump" and of how his presence at the 'Howdy Modi' rally was "extraordinary and unprecedented".

Modi also said "Abki bar Trump Sarkar" - with a dramatic pause making a case for President Trump’s re-election in 2020.

President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "America's greatest, most devoted, and loyal friend" and backed him in his governance. PM Modi is "doing a truly excellent job in India and for all the Indian people", he said.

​Pushing strong relations between India and America

Trump mentioned the MoU between India's Petronet LNG and US liquefied natural gas (LNG) developer Tellurian Inc inked a day ago - one of the largest foreign investments in the US in shale gas abroad.

Petronet will spend $2.5 billion for an 18% equity stake in the $28 billion Driftwood LNG terminal, and negotiate the purchase of 5 million tonnes of gas per annum.
