In most of the advanced markets globally, petrol and diesel prices are revised on a daily basis. India too is following the path, implementing the procedure of daily changes in fuel prices in select towns, in sync with international rates.
Indian Oil Corp (
IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (
BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (
HPCL), the state-owned
fuel retailers that own more than 95% of the nearly 58,000
petrol pumps in India, will be starting the exercise of daily price revision in five select cities of Puducherry, Vizag, Udaipur, Jamshedpur, and Chandigarh, taking it to other parts of the country later on.
