Parle Products topped the list of food companies in India during 2014-15, with sales exceeding Rs 8,300 crore, according to a Nielsen report.
The company, which was established in 1929 and owns Parle G, had a 29% share in the biscuits category during the year with sales of over 5,000 crore, ET reported.
The 85-year old company is the
market leader in the biscuits category.
Britannia, India's second-largest biscuit maker, and chocolate giant
Mondelez shared the second rank with revenue of 6,800 crore.
In the non-food segment,
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) led the pack with sales of Rs 25,400 crore, nearly thrice of its nearest rival,
Procter & Gamble (P&G), which registered sale of 8,600 crore.
Rohit Surfactants Private Limited (RSPL), maker of Ghari detergent, came in third in the home and personal segment, with sales of Rs 4,900 crore.
