Salah Abdeslam, who is suspected of involvement in the Paris terror attacks, will not fight extradition from Belgium to France, the BBC reports.

Abdeslam was arrested last week after a raid on a property in the Belgian capital. Sven Mary, Abdeslam's lawyer, told French media his client wishes to "leave for France as quickly as possible" so he could "explain himself."

Abdeslam's arrest was followed four days later by the bombings in Brussels which have killed at least 31 people. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Police believe Abdeslam drove a car that brought a group of terrorists to France's national football stadium - the site of several explosions in Paris on November 13. They also believe Abdeslam escaped from Paris and headed back across the Belgian border in the hours after the attacks.

An international search was launched by European authorities to try and locate Abdeslam, with large parts of Brussels placed on lockdown.

Abdeslam is due in court in Brussels on March 31 for the execution of a European arrest warrant issued by France.
