Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam chose not to carry out a suicide bombing during the terrorist assault on the French capital last year, his brother told French news channel BFMTV.

Mohamed Abdeslam spoke to BFMTV after meeting his brother in the Belgian prison where he is currently being detained.

"If I wanted, there would have been more victims," Salah Abdeslam is said to have told his sibling.

"Luckily, I did not follow through."

A total of 130 people were killed after Islamic terrorists carried out gun and bomb attacks across Paris on November 13, 2015. An international football match, a rock concert, restaurants, and bars were all targeted. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Following the strikes on Paris an international manhunt was launched to try and find Salah Abdeslam.

The 26-year-old Frenchman was arrested after a dramatic police raid in Brussels last month, just four days before the suicide bombings in the Belgian capital.

Earlier this week a court ruled that Abdeslam will be extradited to France.

"He wants to cooperate with the French authorities," lawyer Cedric Moisse said, according to AFP.
