Pakistan on Monday said that it will ‘exercise all options’ to counter Indian government’s decision to scrap Article 370 and Article 35A of the constitution, which gives Kashmir a special status.

It also called the move an ‘illegal’ attempt to bring Kashmir under the Delhi’s governance.

“Pakistan strongly condemns and rejects the announcements made today by the Indian Government regarding the Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory,” HuffPost reported citing Pakistan Foreign Ministry’s statement.

Breaking silence on the escalating tensions in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Minister Amit Shah announced in the Parliament that Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh will be two seperate Union Territories (UTs) from now on.

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will be with an assembly, while Ladakh, a separate UT, will have no assembly.

“With this 47-page Bill, we are ending a state without enough deliberation,” said Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The Kashmiri political leaders have been shown strong disagreement on the government’s move. Former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti called it the “Darkest day in the Indian democracy.”
