As it turns out, the sandwich he received was only 11-inches long — an inch shorter than the footlong he was promised.

He posted the photo on Subway's Facebook page, accompanied by a simple request: "subway pls respond."

It went nuts.

Outraged Subway customers flocked to the page to let their voice be heard.

Gawker's Neetzan Zimmerman notes that people are offering various explanations for the mysterious missing inch of sub.

"Some claiming to be in the know alleged that, contrary to popular belief, a toasted sub tends to shrink, whereas a cold sub maintains its full size," he wrote. "Others suggested that the bread was faulty from the get-go."

"It's 12 when cooked then shrinks when cooled! I worked there 5 yrs!" one commenter noted.

"If I'm paying for a footlong sub that they so annoyingly advertise, then I want a footlong sub. And to all others, yes it does matter," posted another.

Other commenters accuse Corby of foul play, saying that it's a fake tape measure.

Either way, Corby has sparked quite the firestorm.

The Facebook post has more than 117,000 likes, 2,700 shares, and 5,100 comments.

Subway has yet to provide an explanation.
