Word on the street is that the company making a bid for Salesforce is NOT its arch rival, Oracle.

But Oracle CEO Safra Catz thinks that if someone did come along and buy Salesforce, it would be very good for Oracle.

During a press conference at the company on Thursday, Catz said she would not comment on rumors that Oracle made a play for Salesforce. "We never comment. We've never had a deal leak."

But, asked about what it would mean for Oracle if Salesforce did get picked up by another, she riffed a little on that.

"If Salesforce is acquired by somebody else, it is probably good for us, to be honest. Everybody brings their own stuff to these things [big deals], especially someone big enough to acquire them. It will be interesting to watch it play out, and cause a lot of disruption in that market. I would view it something to be helpful to us. Depending on who it was," she said.

"But disruption is always an opportunity."

It's still a big mystery in the Valley as to who may have tried to make a bid for Salesforce, as reported by Bloomberg on Wednesday.
