One person died when a plane owned by former Major League Baseball pitcher Roy Halladay crashed into the Gulf of Mexico, according to several reports.

The person flying the plane has not been identified. According to Noah Pransky, the plane was registered in Halladay's name on Monday.

The screengrab of the crash site above is from a video posted by WTSP in Tampa.

Halladay spent 14 seasons in the big leagues with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Eagles.

Halladay had recently posted several photos of his Icon a5 to social media.

Halladay also recently wrote about flying the A5 "low over the water," and compared it to flying a fighter jet.

This is a developing story.
