Not only did it introduce a generation of kids to the concepts of buffalo hunting and death via dysentery, it was also something like the original survival horror game. Getting your band of settlers from Missouri to Oregon without sacrificing a loved one or dying of starvation was a struggle.

The Hall of Famer has seen a number of revamps and re-releases in 42 (!) years since it debuted - and you can still play it for free today - but now, Texas-based Pressman Toy has turned it into a card game. The Target exclusive will cost $15 when it arrives on August 1. The game's existence was first spotted by Reddit user dwboso earlier this week.

As you can see in Pressman Toy's introductory video below, the game appears to stay close to the spirit of the original. You're still managing supplies, weathering snake bites, and memorializing the dead on tombstones. It might not be as educational as the game's creators intended all those years ago, but it could still provide some nostalgia and dark humor.
