Obama Shakes Hands With Cuba's Raul Castro

In a noteworthy moment during the memorial of the late South African President Nelson Mandela, U.S. President Barack Obama shook hands with Cuban President Raul Castro as Obama made his way up to speak.

The move was seen as something of an unprecedented display between the leaders of two nations that have been at odds for more than a half-century. Both presidents, however, were in line to speak at the service.

During a powerful speech praising Mandela's life, Obama included a line that many thought was aimed at Castro, among others.

"There are too many leaders who claim solidarity with Madiba's struggle for freedom, but do not tolerate dissent from their own people," Obama said.
