- Odell Beckham Jr. would reportedly hold out if not given a new contract extension.
- New York Giants co-owner John Mara said the team is not actively looking to trade Beckham and co-owner Steve Tisch said he hopes the star receiver is with the Giants for years.
- Those words and others are a big red flag, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter who said he would not be surprised if the Giants trade OBJ in the coming weeks.
Odell Beckham Jr. is arguably one of the two best wide receivers in the world, but his days as a member of the New York Giants may be numbered.
On Sunday, Giants co-owner John Mara said nobody on the team is "untouchable," but added that the team is not actively looking to trade Beckham and that a potential deal is "not a scenario" that he would like to see.
However, NFL insider Adam Schefter was a guest on ESPN Radio's "Golic & Wingo" and pointed to those words and others the Giants have used as a good sign that they are looking to make a deal in the coming weeks.
"Now you're going to hear all the storylines, and we have begun to hear, 'unlikely that they are going to trade him,' 'probably going to be a Giant,' and all those things," Schefter said. "The fact that those terms are being thrown out tells me the Giants will be looking for a deal, from now, up and to and through the draft, for Odell Beckham Jr."
In addition to Mara's comments, on Monday, Fellow co-owner Steve Tisch said he "hopes" Beckham remains with the Giants for years, according to ESPN. Kimberly Jones of the NFL Network also quoted a source who said an OBJ trade "probably won't happen."

"My understanding is that Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr will not set foot on a field without a new contract extension agreed to - with the Giants or any team," Rapoport wrote on Twitter.
Schefter says the Giants don't seem willing to give Beckham a new deal and if right, they have to make a trade.
"They have to make a decision," Schefter said. "They have to either pay Odell Beckham Jr - which right now they are not showing any inclination that they want to do that - or they have to trade Odell Beckham Jr. It's one or the other."
Schefter later said he would not be surprised if the Giants trade the star receiver before or during the NFL Draft in late April.
"The fact that they are talking like they are, tells me that this is alive, that this isn't going away," Schefter said. "And it doesn't mean they trade him, but my guess would be, I will not be shocked if we see an Odell Beckham trade on or before the draft."
