NFL Draft Prospect Has The Perfect Philosophy On Being A Backup Quarterback
Kevin C. Cox/Getty ImagesFormer Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray is the seventh (or so) ranked quarterback in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Since only a few select rookies start every year, it stands to reason that Bray will be a backup at first and have to work his way through the ranks before he becomes a starter.
Bray was asked about this at his Pro Day today, and he gave the perfect answer to Vols247's Wes Rucker:
What a great quote.
It's true, of course. Being a backup NFL quarterback means you get a six-figure salary without the gigantic expectations of leading a team as a starter.
But then again Bray is going to get slammed for this quote because fans expect players to be motivated by pride and loyalty and the love or the game.
Bray has a history of saying controversial things. Back in November he said, "I'm paid to win football games."
Still, you have to respect the honesty.
