Top 10 countries with the highest number of Monkeypox cases
  • Over 26k monkeypox cases detected worldwide across 87 countries.
  • The maximum number of cases were detected in Europe – with Spain, Germany and the UK accounting for over 10,000 cases.
  • Two vaccines – Imvamune and ACAM2000 – have been recommended against Monkeypox.
On July 23, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared Monkeybox a global health emergency. At the time more than 16,000 cases had been reported from 75 countries.

Before the 2022 Monkeypox outbreak, the first case was detected back in 1970. The symptoms include fever, swollen lymph nodes, blisters, rashes and muscle pain.

The maximum number of cases were detected in Europe – with Spain, Germany and the UK accounting for over 10,000 cases together.

Even though there are no specific vaccines for Monkeypox, vaccines used for smallpox are being administered instead due to similarity between the two. Two vaccines – Imvamune and ACAM2000 – have been recommended for use by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

As of August 4, there were 26,208 Monkeypox cases reported across 87 countries. Here are the ten countries that have reported the most cases of Monkeypox.
