SpiceJet, under its new owners, has initiated the process to replace the top management and has asked Kaneswaran Avili to step down as its Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) effective April 10, 2015.
"Kaneswaran Avili is leaving the company to pursue certain entrepreneurial opportunities that he has been very keen on," SpiceJet said in a release.
Sources in the company say at least two more in the senior management would be asked to leave.
Avili joined SpiceJet on April 1, 2014, and had announced several discount offerings in the airline, which many in the airline feel was the reason behind SpiceJet's downfall.
"Kanesh helped create the "SpiceJet Effect", which through demand stimulation and the refusal to accept half-empty aircraft flying around especially in low season, has galvanized the entire Indian aviation market into high growth mode while at the same time helping improve revenue performance.
The "SpiceJet Effect" has enabled more Indians to fly than ever before, including many first-time flyers. Kanesh also helped drive certain cost efficiencies in terms of staffing productivity, which also contributed positively to the bottom line. We wish Kanesh the very best for the entrepreneurial opportunities he is planning to pursue," Sanjiv Kapoor, Chief Operating Officer, SpiceJet Ltd was quoted in the release.
