While the jury is as still out on which is the best luxury car brand in India, BMW India has brought another Luxury vehicle to the Indian roads. This is the brand version of the new BMW 5 Series that has very similar looks to its previous generation, but has some new features to boast of. To keep costs low it will be produced locally in BMW’s Chennai plant. The new car will be available in 3 variants – the Luxury line, the Modern Line and the M Sport.

It is the second most lavish sedan from BMW after the 7 series. All the variants in the new 5 Series will have ABS, Dynamic Traction Control, Cruise Control, adaptive LED headlights and rain sensors for wipers. Over that all of them will have the BMW connected drive features that make the drive more attractive. The price of the new 520d Modern is Rs 46.9 lakhs, 525d Luxury Plus is 51.9 and the sports edition 530d M Sport is Rs 57.9 lakhs (Ex showroom).

The company also has plans to pump fresh funds into its Chennai plant which already produces couple of cars including the BMW X1, X3, 3 Series and Mini Countryman. The plant has the capacity to manufacture 14,000 units per year and the company will infuse 3.9 Billion Rupees to the plant. This should help the company extend the lines further and they can further expand their dealer network across India.
