Netflix has reportedly backed Sacred Games season 2 with an investment of ₹1 billion (₹100 crore) -- so far the highest on the production of any original content on any OTT platform in India. The success of the first season of the show with its ensemble cast has led to a lot of expectations both from the users and the producer, reported LiveMint. A big chunk, of course, would have gone into hiring the ensemble cast including Bollywood stars like Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi, Surveen Chawla, Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey.
"This season is bigger, more compelling, and totally unexpected. Be prepared to discover a different side to each character as we take the audience on a tremendous journey, and address questions left unanswered last season." Netflix had earlier said while revealed the date of release.
Sacred Games Season 2 is an incredibly dramatic series where a gangster who fled 34 years ago committed suicide leaving clues with a cop.
The series is going to release on the independence day with 12 episodes. Anurag Kashyap and Neeraj Ghaywan directed the series by adapting Vikram Chandra's book with the same name.
