The court was hearing Nestle India’s petition challenging FSSAI’s current ban of Maggi’s nine variants. The company has also questioned a similar order by the Maharashtra government that prohibits the sale of the snack stating it is unsafe for consumption.

Nestle's attorney Iqbal Chhagla said that by the end of the month the company would destroy 17,000 Crore packets of Maggi. 11,000 Crore out of these are being recalled from the market.

FSSAI and others have filed affidavits to oppose Nestle's petition seeking relief from the current ban.
