NBC News issued a correction to a story about Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's personal attorney. The original report said federal investigators wiretapped Cohen's phone calls. The news outlet now says investigators kept logs of numbers dialed from phones in Cohen's possession. Investigators did not spy on Cohen's conversations as NBC News first reported.

Three senior US officials disputed the wiretapping claim, which NBC News originally attributed to two unnamed sources that it said were familiar with the legal proceedings surrounding Cohen.

Cohen is under criminal investigation as part of an inquiry into his business dealings. The investigation is being handled by the US Attorney's office for the Southern District of New York.

The FBI raided Cohen's properties last month as part of the investigation.
