  • Benjamin Netanyahu’s party, the Likud, hung posters of Narendra Modi on the 15-story Likud party headquarters.

  • Netanyahu, who is facing tough competition, aims to target the people using his connections with the world leaders.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned a poster boy at Israeli elections. The country’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu, who is fighting elections this year, is advertising his ‘friendship’ with Modi.

Netanyahu’s party, the Likud, hung posters of him with Modi, at its 15-storey party headquarters at Tel Aviv. The posters also feature Netanyahu shaking hands with US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The slogan of the billboards read "Netanyahu: In a league of his own."

Modi also features in a video clip released by Netanyahu for the election campaign. The clips are from Modi's visit to Israel in 2017.

The campaign comes amid the growing friendship between Netanyahu and the Indian Prime Minister. He was also the first world leader to congratulate Modi on his victory at the general elections in May.

Netanyahu also has a visit scheduled to India on September 9, a week before Israel goes on polls.

Netanyahu has set a record as the country’s longest-serving Prime Minister, surpassing the record of the country’s first premier and Zionist David Ben-Gurion. However, this time around, he is facing a lot of opposition, which is probably why is banking on the stardust of other top world leaders.
