For the state of Mizoram, the C-Voter exit poll predicted a win for the alliance between Congress and the Zoram People’s Movement.
The North Eastern State of Mizoram has only one Lok Sabha constituency. While the candidatures of this constituency are reserved only for the Scheduled Tribes, six candidates are lined up to try their luck to check who the results will favor. The state of Mizoram went for polling on April 11, during the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 through the country. A Lalrosanga a former Indian broadcasting Programme Service Officer has fielded on behalf of the Mizo National Front (MNF). Lalnghinglova Hmar, also known as Tetea Hmar, a famed sports journalist is now seen in the game as an independent candidate.
He is duly backed by the important opposition parties namely the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) and Congress. BJP has now fielded state vice-president of the party Nirupam Chakma, who is also a veteran Chakma leader. TBC Lalvenchhunga represents the newly established movement of People's Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (PRISM). Two other independent candidates taking part in the game during 2019 Lok Sabha elections are Lalhriatrenga Chhangte and Lalthlamuani. As per the media sources, Lalthlamuani is an independent candidate who heads an NGO run for the Jewish community. She is also the only woman candidate to contest from Mizoram this time.
