Before you write this brand off as one that is only appropriate for tweenaged girls, hear this: You can get 10 pairs of comfortable undies for just $35. So really, if your bank account looks about the same as it did when you were 13 (no shame if it does), Aerie is a serious contender for your business.

Beyond the unbeatable price point, however, Aerie also makes truly comfortable and dependable underwear. Simple and unfussy, the majority of these undergarments are made of good ol' cotton. But buyers certainly don't seem fazed by the lack of rayon, satin, and silk. Rather, a slew of five-star reviews proclaim that Aerie's Cotton Boybriefs are "so comfortable, you almost forget you're wearing them," and that (unlike many other brands) "the fit is great."

To say that Aerie has a wide selection would be an understatement — No matter what kind of style or color or print you're looking for, this brand has it.

Everlane's underwear collection features bikini, thong, hipster, and high-rise hipster styles that are all made with Supima cotton that's grown in the United States and made into underwear at ethical factories. The cotton's extra long fibers are super soft on your skin and the material is breathable.

We at Insider Picks reviewed Everlane's underwear, and we loved it. The high-rise hipster was a group favorite with its full coverage and comfortable feel. I also personally loved the regular hipster style, which is both sexy and comfortable. Those of us who prefer thongs were also favorably impressed with Everlane's take on that classic sexy style.

With the exception of a few styles, colors in the Commando line are generally muted and quite classic. So if you need to find a pair of underwear for the cocktail dress you're wearing to the charity gala, you'll probably want to pull out a pair of Commandos.

New York Magazine says that Commando ticks all the boxes when it comes to both comfort and functionality, and this assessment certainly rang true for me as well. Although the different styles absorb 1/2 to two tampons' worth of menstrual blood, they are all made with moisture-wicking, odor-controlling, super-absorbent, and leak-resistant materials.

The new Thinx Super underwear is said to hold four tampons worth of blood, which would be ideal for heavier flows. We look forward to testing this style soon to see if it lives up to the claims.

Some styles are better for heavy days and heavier flows — like the super, hipsters, briefs, and boyshorts — while others, like the thongs, are suitable for light flows.

I've tried the hipsters, boyshorts, and briefs, and they are all very effective and absorbent. I typically wear them at night in lieu of pads, but I have also worn them on medium to light days. They control odors very well and are easy to handwash after wearing.

They are so comfortable to wear that I don't notice the difference between them and regular underwear. They are a bit snugger and thicker than normal underwear, but not so much that it's distracting.

Depending on your flow, you can use them as tampon and pad replacements, as nighttime protection, or as backups to leaks from menstrual cups or other forms of feminine care products. If you have a lighter flow, Thinx are all you need.
