Here Trump and Kim walk to greet each for the first time.

They shook hands for about 30 seconds.

The two leaders continued to embrace each other.

Trump even gave Kim a full-arm embrace at one point.

"I feel really great, we're gonna have a great discussion, and I think tremendous success," Trump said.

They even took a stroll through the Capella Hotel gardens.

And posed on the hotel balcony.

The two sides later met across from each other.

Trump and Kim again shook hands.

The two leaders went on to sign and issue a joint statement.

Many world leaders approved of the summit, stressing the need for diplomacy, but some US lawmakers and commentators criticized the joint statement.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the meeting legitimized a "brutal and repressive" dictator, while House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said the joint statement granted concessions to Kim with only "vague promises" in return.

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro also said the statement was "weak."

Trump also said after the signing that the US would halt "war games" with South Korea in return for denuclearization talks.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said withdrawing troops from South Korea could empower China, and Richard Hass, president of Council on Foreign Relations, said Trump halting the war games were "troubling."
