Microsoft's new phone could come with a removable battery
Microsoft is expected to announce two new phones tomorrow, the larger of which will have a removable battery.
A leaked photo of the Lumia 950XL shows the back of the device, including the battery which is 3,350mAh (the iPhone 6S Plus is 2,915mAh) and appears to include grooves that would allow for its removal.
Microsoft's decision to include a removable battery is a break from the pack. Apple, Samsung, Google, HTC, and others all seal new phones, preventing the removal, or swapping out, of the battery. This means that when an iPhone's battery is dead the user has to find a charger rather than pulling out a replacement and simply putting it in.
The new Lumia 950XL is the first new flagship Windows phone since the 930 in 2014. The screen measures 5.7-inches and it will run Windows 10 Mobile. The smaller handset, simply called the 950, includes a 5.2-inch screen. Both devices will be unveiled tomorrow at an event that starts at 10am EDT (3pm BST).
