Lilly Singh aka Superwoman shot to fame with her instantly relatable and hilarious videos that poked fun at the typical Indian things almost everyone does. Singh, who is a Canadian of Indian origin perfectly summarised the intricacies of being a brown person with brown parents and most of her videos usually revolve around similar themes.

Singh is also is a woman of many talents- she’s a stand up comedian, Youtube personality, vlogger, motivational speaker and a rapper. The list of her talents is ever-growing. Just like her soaring popularity.

Only last year she ranked 8th in Forbes list of World’s Top Earning Youtube Stars with a price tag of $ 2.5 million attached to her name. And, just this month she made it to TIME’s list of most influential people along Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself.

Currently, in India as a part of the Youtube Fan Fest for the third time, we managed to catch hold of this funny woman for a quick chat and had a blast laughing it off!

1. If not a Youtube star, what would you have been?
I have a degree in Psychology, so maybe I would have ended up doing something around that.

2. What is the one thing you ensure your videos always convey?
It’s very important that all my videos are relatable, regardless of the subject of the video. If you can get people to relate to your video, that’s half the battle won.

3. One advice you wish you had when you were starting out?
I wish someone told me ‘Stop trying to figure it out and just have fun.’ When I started making videos, I was quite obsessed with figuring out who I wanted to be or what I wanted to say instead of just being myself and having fun with what I was shooting.

4. Any tips for Youtube content creators who are just starting out?

Please do not start making videos with the mindset of making a viral video. That’s not what you should be focusing all your energies at.
It’s important that you believe in your content, be yourself and have fun. If your idea is good enough, it’ll get viral itself.

Also, please remember nobody becomes a Youtube star overnight. That’s not going to happen to you too unless you keep at it and work extra hard.

And, last but not the least, don’t chase followers, instead build a community. A community of people who believe in your work and support you is way better than thousands of followers with no personal interest in you.

5. How’s a day in Superwoman’s life?
A day in my life is hectic- multiplied by 1000. I put out videos every Monday and Thursday, so I usually wake up on these two days stressed- because I have no clue what I’m going to do. Then, I end up writing something and shoot and edit it myself- which takes a lot of time. On other days, I’m running around for meetings and what not.

6. If you had a superpower, what would it be?
It would definitely be the power to pause time... so that I can catch up on some sleep.

7. What is next for Lilly Singh?
I’ve recently moved to Los Angeles, so I would like to get into TV and Film and have been auditioning for some roles. Apart from that, I would also like to write a book someday.

8. One cool thing that has happened to you because of Youtube?
I’ve met some really cool people due to Youtube, but the most memorable thing was becoming friends with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. I wish I can get him to star in my video someday!
