Maruti Suzuki’s Mayank Pareek Quits To Pursue ‘Better Opportunities’
Smallbusiness1 min read

Mayank Pareek, marketing and sales head of India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki (MSI), has quit the company after nearly 20 years of service at the company. According to people familiar with the development, Pareek has put in papers to pursue 'better opportunities'. However, the spokesperson for MSI declined to comment.

Pareek’s sudden departure comes at a crucial time when the company is gearing up to launch its premium sedan Ciaz in October. Maruti has been struggling to make its presence felt in the bigger car segment.

There are speculations that he may join homegrown auto major Tata Motors, which has been seeking a revival in fortunes in the passenger cars segment.

Besides the company chairman RC Bhargava, Pareek is the other Indian face of the company in which Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation holds majority stake. He had successfully continued the rural drive of the company initiated by former Managing Director Jagdish Khattar.

Pareek has been credited for increasing the company’s market share even when the Indian automobile market witnessed a slump in the past two years.
