Martin Shkreli went on a lengthy Twitter rant about Donald Trump
The founder of Turing Pharmaceuticals, described in some quarters as the "most hated man in America," wrote that Trump's "rich guy" attitude is hated by "actual" rich people.
"F--- him," Shkreli tweeted. "Dont know a lot about Trump but his 'rich guy' attitude is universally looked down by actual rich people."
Shkreli posted the tweet after another user said Trump would disagree with a prior tweet of Shkreli's, in which the notorious former CEO said "money doesn't change you."
When another user asserted that Trump's "rich guy" attitude is a marketing routine, Shkreli pressed on.
"Re Trump as a 'routine'. There are as rich/richer real estate families youve never heard of," he posted. "They dont need bombast."
However, Shkreli added that his disdain for Trump didn't mean he's going to vote for Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. Shkreli had previously tweeted that he'll be abstaining from voting. But he added that, "gun to my head," Shkreli would likely vote for Trump.
"Hell no," he posted. "I said i vote trump over hillary. And i'm not saying i don't approve of his behavior, saying it is insecure."
Shkreli currently faces charges alleging he defrauded investors as the CEO of Turing. He will face additional charges at a June 6 trial.
In December Shkreli was charged by the federal government with seven counts:
- Two counts of securities fraud;
- Two counts of conspiracy to commit securities fraud;
- Three counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Shkreli made headlines last September after he raised the price of Daraprim, a drug used to treat a parasitic infection called toxoplasmosis, by 5,000%. The charges, however, are not directly related to the price hike. They deal with instances earlier in his career while he was managing hedge funds.
