Prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s debut townhall interaction at the Facebook Headquarters, CEO Mark Zuckerberg did something to surprise Modi.

Zuckerberg added a filter to his profile picture to show his support with Modi’s vision of ‘Digital India’ and the picture is going viral, with thousands of likes and shares within minutes of being posted.

Earlier in the day, Modi spoke before a gathering of Silicon Valley CEOs and announced plans to create more public WiFi spots including at 500 railway stations across India and an aggressive expansion of the National Optical Fibre Network to take broadband to 600,000 villages.

After changing his profile picture, Zuckerberg posted the same on his Facebook page and said:

“I changed my profile picture to support Digital India, the Indian government's effort to connect rural communities to the internet and give people access to more services online. Looking forward to discussing this with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Facebook today. Show your support for Digital India at fb.com/supportdigitalindia

Appreciating the gesture, Modi on his part thanked Zuckerberg with a post on his Facebook page while changing his profile picture in support of Digital India as well.
