Billionaire businessman Mark Cuban, a prominent backer of Hillary Clinton, told CNBC Tuesday that Peter Thiel's pro-Donald Trump speech from the National Press Club on Monday "actually makes my point" about the Republican nominee.

Thiel, a tech billionaire, venture capitalist, and founder of PayPal, who is Trump's most prominent Silicon Valley supporter, said in his Monday speech that it's "not a lack of judgment" that is causing Americans to vote for and support Trump, but that "we judge the leadership of our country to have failed."

Cuban, the owner of the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and star of ABC's "Shark Tank," ripped Thiel for not saying "a word about Trump's policies."

"And that's the point," he said, pointing out that Thiel said following the speech in a question and answer session that the media and others need to take Trump seriously, but not literally for some of the statements he makes.

"That's craziness," Cuban said. "That just reinforces that Trump doesn't know what his policies are. Peter Thiel doesn't believe in his policies."

Cuban also suggested that Thiel takes everything said about Clinton, the Democratic nominee "literally and seriously."
