Man Says He Was Beaten Unconscious By Philly Fans For Wearing A Lions Jersey At An Eagles Game
A man, who wished to remain anonymous, claims that he was beaten unconscious by a group of six Eagles fans as he was walking to the train.
He says they did it because he was wearing Lions gear - specifically a Barry Sanders jersey that his fiancee bought him.
From the Inquirer:
"As he walked along Pattison near the Xfinity Live complex, a group of men in their 20s in Eagles jerseys began shouting and throwing snowballs at him."
"'I tried to keep my head down and avoid them,' he said. 'I didn't want to give them the satisfaction.'"
He alleges that the six men then "bum-rushed" him, knocking him out.
Philadelphia police Captain Laurence Nodiff told the Inquirer, "These despicable attacks on fans who are rooting for other teams is something we don't take lightly, and we're not going to tolerate it."
The man claims that a different Eagles helped him up and threw his Eagles jersey in the trash when he found out what happened to him.
He was treated at a Philadelphia hospital for a concussion and minor injuries, the Inquirer says.
