Make sure your new Bluetooth headphones have this one crucial feature

I've had it with tangling, snagging, and generally dealing with wires.

So if you're looking for a new pair of headphones, I can't recommend enough that you get wireless Bluetooth headphones over a wired pair.

Audiophiles might say Bluetooth headphones don't sound quite as good as wired ones, but there a bunch of Bluetooth headphones out there that sound really great.

Great sound isn't the only thing you should look for, though. There's one particular feature you should keep in mind.

You should make sure the Bluetooth headphones you buy can connect to two or more devices at a time.

Why is this important?

You can run into some pretty annoying problems when you're trying to use Bluetooth headphones with more than one device.

If your headphones can connect to two or more devices, you can switch between your smartphone and computer connections seamlessly. If your Bluetooth headphones can only connect to one device at a time, it's a pain to switch connections.

Here's my personal experience:

During my morning commute, my Bluetooth headphones are connected to my smartphone. Then, when I get to work, I want to switch my headphones over to my computer, just like you would with wired headphones. This is where the problems begin.

Switching a Bluetooth connection to a new device is not a good experience. Sometimes it'll switch over just fine, other times I have to go into my computer settings and re-pair the headphones with my computer. It's unreliable and inconsistent, which are qualities you don't need in your life.

The same problems arise at the end of the day when I leave work and want to connect my Bluetooth headphones back to my smartphone. Sometimes they'll make the switch without any issues, other times I have to go through the re-pairing motions.

The experience was so poor compared to my old wired headphones, which I could simply plug in to any device I wanted, that I ruled out Bluetooth headphones for a while.

However, having used Bluetooth headphones that can connect to two devices at a time for some time, I can safely say that it's a must-have feature if you usually switch your wired headphones between your smartphone and computer.

The latest pair of Bluetooth headphones I reviewed, called the Plantronics BackBeat Pro+, can connect to two devices at the same time, and they sound great, too. And despite the fact that they have pretty good noise cancellation, they also have an incredible battery life. They're a little pricey for around $275 on Amazon, but that's the price for a solid, all-around great pair of Bluetooth headphones.
