Mahindra’s Bolero is getting a makeover

Mahindra & Mahindra does not want to lose out on its profits due to environment regulations and is giving a makeover to its Bolero.
Mahindra does not want to get affected due to the new tax levied on big SUVs and is tinkering with Bolero, which is its top selling model.
The new Bolero will have a 1.5-litre engine, which is presently powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine.
The renewed mean machine is expected to launch in later half of the year.
Mahindra’s Bolero still sells nearly 7,000 units a month of sales and the makeover will also keep the machine in the market.
"This attempt may also help Mahindra make up for a partial margin loss on account of phasing out of incentives at Haridwar plant, without tinkering with the vehicle price. On the other hand, the new variant also helps in keeping the brand alive in the market," one of the several people in the know of the company's plans told ET.
Meanwhile, Mahindra is also working on a 7-seat version of the TUV 300, called U302, which will compete with Toyota Innova and U341.
