IPFT president has announced that the party will not form any alliance with BJP this time in the Lok Sabha elections. Hence we see both the parties in direct contest with each other in the state. Earlier in March 2018, the Indigenous People Front of Tripura faced the Assembly Elections in alliance with the BJP. This alliance got 44 out of 60 seats making BJP capture the rule of the state. IPFTs share in this was only 9 seats. Now IPFT has decided to contest in both the constituencies of Tripura East and Tripura West against BJP and the other oppositions namely the Congress and the Left Front.
