Google and India's public broadcaster partner up to live stream the results of the world’s largest democratic exercise

- Users will now be able to watch the Lok Sabha Election results live streamed on Google via DD News.
- Prasar Bharati, the Indian government’s broadcasting channel, has partnered with the global tech giant to increase the visibility of the election results.
- Prasar Bharati’s CEO asserts that this increase the credibility of the electoral process in light of recent events.
- The live stream will broadcast in 14 different languages across DD’s regional stations.

CEO of Prasar Bharati, Shashi Shekhar Vempati, told PTI, “What is going to happen is whenever anybody accesses YouTube from anywhere in India either through the website of YouTube or through the YouTube App, the first thing that they will see on top will be a news stream from DD News updating the results.”
Vempati asserts that not only will broadcasting the results of the election on Google increase visibility but will also add to the credibility of the process, which has recently been called into question.

The commission maintains that the EVMs seen in the video aren’t ones that were used during the Lok Sabha Election.
The allegations against India’s apex electoral body come in just two days after the exit polls predicted a comfortable win for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), anticipate the second-term for the incumbent Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
