LIVE: Pope Francis' historic address to Congress
Politics1 min read

Pope Francis is getting ready to address Congress.

On his third day in Washington, D.C., the pope is set to speak in front of joint meeting of Congress, starting around 10 a.m. He will speak in English and will not use a teleprompter, according to Politico.

In addition to members of Congress, many high-profile government figures will be attending the address. Four Supreme Court Justices - Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Justice Anthony Kennedy - will all be in the audience, as will two official presidential candidates, retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

The pontiff kicked off his American tour with a joint appearance on the White House lawn on Wednesday, where he praised President Barack Obama's efforts to curb the effects of global climate change.

This is Francis' first trip to the U.S. as pope.
