The conference is mostly for app developers. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will address them at about 10 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Eastern) and he is expected to make the case that if you are building, distributing or marketing a new app then Facebook has got all the tools you need.
There's a also a huge area for Internet.org, the Facebook partnership with Ericsson that is trying to provide free Internet access to the developing world and bring another billion users online.
And most enticingly of all there's an area where people can try the latest virtual reality headset from Oculus VR, the company Facebook bought earlier this year for $2 billion. There is already a line for that demo.
In the meantime, here are a few photos to set the scene. We'll be updating this blog live from about 9.30 a.m. PST (12.30 p.m. Eastern) as Zuck's big keynote approaches.
