Amazon has posted three straight record quarterly profits and has been in the black for five consecutive quarters - an unusual situation for the company which historically reinvests profits into new growth opportunities.
Amazon is also one of the best performing tech stocks in recent years, jumping 70% since February and more than doubling its price over the past 18 months. The company's now worth $380 billion, 4th largest among all US public companies.
The company's growth is largely driven by two things: Prime members, estimated to be around 60 million worldwide, and AWS, its cloud business which is on track to hit $10 billion in revenue this year. Investors will keep an eye out for the growth of its operating profit margin as well.
