Aluminum giant Alcoa will report its third quarter earnings this afternoon.

Analysts are expecting earnings per share of $0.05 and revenue of $5.63 billion.

Aluminum demand is sensitive to economic activity, so the company's earnings are widely considered as an economic bellwether.
