Twitter is planning to not count links and photos in its 140 character limit, a Bloomberg report said.

This crucial change in the one-to-many messaging service’s plans is expected to take place by the end of this month according to the report. This comes at a time when Twitter is looking to bump up its user-base globally.

The measure to relax the 140 character limit is expected to draw in new users faster. Also, now that people are increasingly using pictures, videos and links to communicate, the mobile phone text messaging is wanting to ride that wave by lifting some constraints.

Twitter has witnessed slack growth in the last couple of months. It’s quarterly update released last month shows minimal change in its user figures. The number of monthly active users stood at 310 million, a paltry 3% hike from last year’s.

Twitter declined to comment.
