Life Returns To Normal In Visakhapatnam

Cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam is now limping back to normalcy as essential supplies and public transportation services get restored.
Electricity and communication network had collapsed due to the devastation caused by cyclone Hudhud that struck on Sunday.

The Andhra Pradesh government is making efforts to restore electricity supply. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is in the city to monitor relief operations, has asked officials to supply a package of food items like rice, dal, edible oil and vegetables to the cyclone-hit people.

Following reports that some traders are trying to take advantage of the situation by selling various essential items at inflated prices, Naidu has assured that vegetables would be provided at a low price.

Vegetables and milk are now being sent to Vishakhapatnam uprooted trees and other debris from the roads have been removed, officials said.
The state-run Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), a crucial mode of public transportation in the state, have resumed.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced an interim relief of Rs 1,000 crore to Andhra Pradesh.
