Less Than Four Months After A Devastating Knee Injury, Robert Griffin III Says He Feels 'Ready'

Win McNamee/Getty ImagesIn early January, Robert Griffin III tore two ligaments in his knee during a playoff game. Less than four months later, Griffin told Redskins.com that he feels like he is ready to play but that coaches are holding him back.

"[The Redskins] are holding me back from doing certain things," said Griffin. "I feel like I am ready, my body might look like it's ready, but according to the timetable, I'm not ready."

When Griffin first injured his knee, it was believed that he would miss 6-8 months and the start of the 2013 season was in jeopardy. However, last month, Dr. James Andrews called RG3 "superhuman" and that the young quarterback was "way ahead of schedule."

Of course, there is no reason to push Griffin this early in the process and with the regular season still more than four months away. But these comments strongly suggest that Griffin will be ready to go when the season starts.
