It’s not the fastest production motorcycle anymore, but it’s still blindingly quick. If you’re anything close to a bike enthusiast, you’ll have a key chain, a toy model, or at least an HD wallpaper of this legendary super-bike - the Suzuki Hayabusa.

Suzuki Motorcycles India has said they’ll assemble their flagship, the iconic Hayabusa in India. This will knock down its price to a marginally more affordable 13,57,135 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Hayabusa will now be brought into India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kit, and locally assembled at the company’s Gurgaon plant.

Mr. Kenji Hirozawa, Vice President Sales & Marketing, Suzuki Motorcycle India said, "India is one of the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. This is a clear indication of the high demands in this ever growing market. Along with growth, comes maturity. Coupled with growth in lifestyle and infrastructure, there is an increasing demand for big bikes by the Indian enthusiast. Suzuki shall cater to this by starting assembly of our most widely selling big bike, the Suzuki Hayabusa. We firmly believe in the Make in India program and this another step to show our support even in the big bike market."

Clear this is Suzuki’s way of showing support to Narendra Modi’s Make in India program, and what a magnanimous gesture it is.

The India-made Hayabusa will have the same specs as the CBU unit imported from Japan, that’s the same 1340cc monster of an engine that churns out a whopping 197PS of Power and 154Nm of peak torque.
