Leaked Galaxy Note 4 Images Show Off Metal And Pleather

We already know a lot of rumors and speculation surrounding Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 4, but we had yet to see any leaked images of the thing. These photos provide that last piece to this phablet puzzle.

Originally posted by GSMArena, these pics display some expected details-the S Pen's location, fake leather-plastic backing, capacitive buttons, and an USB 3.0 charging port-but also has some surprises with what appears to be metal trimming around the rim with white plastic inlays. Samsung seems to be experimenting with new materials, especially along the edges of its devices. Rumors also suggest that the upcoming Galaxy Alpha smartphone will brandish a metal chamfered rim.

Also, the absence of weather-protective accoutrement, such as a small cover for the charging port, could suggest that the Note 4 won't be adopting water resistance like the S5. There's also a sensor next to the camera that some have pegged as the Note 4's HR sensor though it could just be the flash, especially since Samsung placed the HR sensor under the Galaxy S5's camera.

Although it's hard to measure in these photos with no reference point, we don't expect the screen to scale up in size, only in resolution. Past specification leaks show that the S5 will take advantage of an QHD AMOLED display, which would make the Note 4 a Samsung's first at that resolution.

The Note 4 will most likely launch at Samsung's Unpacked event on Sept. 3, acting as a preface to the IFA 2014 consumer electronics show in Berlin. [GSMArena]
