Then the young lawyer's mother Carolyn was found shot to death in her bed in December 2012. Police believe her son was the last person to see her alive, and they began to regard him as a suspect, the Daily News reported.
He killed himself in January, after police began investigating him, according to the Daily News.
While police in Florida pointed to his massive loans as a possible motive, the Daily News reported that Carolyn wasn't all that wealthy and didn't have a life insurance policy.
The Daily News didn't elaborate on why the police think his debt drove him to murder.
