Here's every detail you may have missed from the 'Wonder Woman' trailer
We open on Themyscira, the mythical, beautiful home of the Amazons of Greek myth. It looks pretty darn idyllic?.
Princess Diana (a.k.a. Wonder Woman) has found Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) washed up on a beach. The U.S. military intelligence officer appears to be the first man Diana has ever seen.
Steve is Diana's historical love interest in the comics, though recently Wonder Woman was involved with Superman. This trailer shows plenty of chemistry and, dare we say it, some sexual tension between the two.
Then we meet Connie Nielsen's Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons and Wonder Woman's mother. She's very protective of her daughter.
At some point Diana leaves Themyscira and ventures into "Man's World," which is embroiled in World War I. She goes incognito.
While at a swanky party, Diana appears to meet the as-yet-unknown character played by Danny Huston. It's heavily implied that the German officer is the villain of the movie. Perhaps he's Ares, the God of War in disguise?
Diana is wearing a blue dress (which we later see her discard while on horseback, indicating that a chase scene probably follows this party scene). She's armed with a sword, which is a power statement for sure.
It's unclear who this character played by Elena Ayana is. The porcelain mask suggest that her face is disfigured (think "Boardwalk Empire"). In the comics, Wonder Woman has a villain named Doctor Cyber who hides her disfigured face behind a mask.
We then see a sleep-over scene where Wonder Woman tells Steve her origin story: She doesn't have a father, but was created out of clay by her mother and then willed to life with the help of the gods.
This was Wonder Woman's origin in the comics for decades, but a fairly recent issue revealed that Wonder Woman is actually the daughter of Hippolyta and the Greek god Zeus, making her a demi-god. It's unclear if this is going to be the case in the movie.
We then see what looks like a pretty badass fight scene between the Amazons and some German soldiers who have apparently invaded Themyscira.
"House of Cards'" Robin Wright plays General Antiope, Hippolyta's sister, and is seen here leading Amazonian cavalry into battle.
We finally see Diana in her full Wonder Woman costume. She casually strolling through No-Man's Land and breaking WWI's trench warfare stalemate.
We then see Wonder Woman using her Lasso of Truth. In the comics, the divine weapon can force anyone ensnared by it to tell the truth, but it's also a sweet-looking whip weapon in the right hands.
Steve Trevor gets in on the action too. In this scene, he appears to be stealing a German biplane and is firing on the grounded krauts. The jacket appears to be German, suggesting that he's maybe undercover. It also looks like the same jacket he's wearing when Diana finds him on the beach — perhaps this is one of the first scenes in the film?
Diana is seen using her shield to block machine gun fire. Wonder Woman traditionally uses her magic arm bracers to deflect gunfire, but it's unclear if she won't be using them that way at all in the film or if a shield? was just the more sensible choice in this instance.
The fight scenes in this movie look like they're going to be pretty good. Imagine a gritty period piece? war movie, plus a super powered warrior.
Next we hear her theme music (which we heard a bit of in "Batman v Superman") and see the logo for the film.
Etta Candy has a complicated comics history. Originally she was Wonder Woman's junk food-obsessed sidekick, but more recent comics have upgraded her to Steve's loyal and highly competent secretary (and for a long time, his wife). The film looks like it's going to provide a fairly modern take — at least for the World War I setting.
