Large fire erupts near Washington, D.C.

A three-alarm fire has erupted in Prince George's county, Maryland, southeast of Washington, D.C., according to the county's fire chief. WTOP in Washington DC says the fire took off in a commercial building on the 8700 block of Ashwood Drive in Capitol Heights. Here's more from Prince George's County Fire Chief, Marc Bashoor:

Photos posted to Twitter show the blaze can be seen from the capital.

Billowing smoke also interrupted the skyline at the opening day game between the Nationals and the Mets at Nationals Park.

Drivers in the area appear to be getting a look at the billowing smoke, too.
